Models
WFRC and its partners maintain three planning models. They are developed in the open, and the pages below explain what each one does and where to find its documentation.
Travel Demand Model
Forecasts how people travel on the region’s roads and transit. Built with Mountainland Association of Governments (MAG).
Current release 9.2.0
Real-Estate Market Model
Simulates where households and jobs may locate, from available land and market conditions, on the UrbanSim platform.
Current release 3.0.0
Bike Demand Model
Estimates bicycle trips between small zones called microzones and assigns them to the bike network.
How the models fit together
The Real-Estate Market Model’s household and job projections drive trip generation in the Travel Demand Model. In turn, the Real-Estate Market Model uses travel accessibility from the Travel Demand Model when it predicts where development happens. The Bike Demand Model works at a finer scale, with its own zones and network.
